New data regarding the classification certificate

The classification of traditional accommodations was activated in accordance with the provisions of Decision No. 17352/2018 (Government Gazette B 4822) of the Minister of Tourism, redefining the way in which the classification certificate stars and keys for hotels, campsites and furnished rooms-apartments for rent, respectively.

According to a current decision [Law 4276/2014 (Government Gazette A 155)], competent body for issuing classification certificates hotels and campsites is the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, while the Regional Tourism Services are responsible for issuing classification certificates for rented furnished rooms-apartments.

Within 10 days of submitting a notification application, the hotel or campsite business submits an application to the Tourism and Hospitality Commission for the issuance of a star classification certificate and pays the corresponding fee. Here you will find the online platform for submitting the relevant applications.

More specifically, the hotels:

  • 4 stars pay €4 per room,
  • 3 stars pay €3 per room,
  • 2 stars pay 2€ per room,
  • 1 star pays 2€ per room.

Respectively, 5 and 4 star campsites 2.5€ per place and 3€ per hut and 3, 2 and 1 star campsites 1.5€ per place and 3€ per hut.
