01. Challenges
Challenges Arina Beach is a 4-star, 313-room resort hotel complex spread over 40 acres of beachfront and computerized with the premium Multi-Property version of Protel PMS. As an all-inclusive unit, it features: 3 restaurants, 4 bars, 1 snack-bar, indoor pool, water park, sauna, gym, 4 outdoor adult pools and 2 children's pools, a private beach serviced by staff, 3 sports fields and in-house stores. The hotel faced serious difficulties in terms of its computerization, which had to do with both installation and location issues: The numerous customer contact stations are scattered along the coastline over many acres, which makes the installation of a Wi-Fi network with access points and routers particularly demanding. The specific facility does not have a structured network and therefore creating one from scratch would be an excessive cost burden for the hotelier. Furthermore, the long distances constitute a difficult daily work routine for the employees and – combined with the heat in the summer months – makes timely and good service to the guests a challenge. Finally, the purchase of a server is another particularly costly investment at a time when the hotel has just completed extensive renovation.
02. Results
With the installation of +plus HDA, the computerization of Arina Beach Resort has successfully overcome all the above difficulties. The combination of cloud technology and the special modules of +plus HDA eliminated the need to install an internet network from the beginning as it can operate with any 4G/5G commercial network. In addition, the employees of the hotel's food and beverage department reduced the distances they travel by over 50% and, as a result, the service time, as they can now accept orders, be paid/charged for a room and issue legal documents on site and at the same time, without additional travel and the need for different devices. Also, billing errors were drastically reduced with the use of the VAT Checker module, through which invoice data is automatically checked for validity in just a few seconds. Finally, all hotel departments communicate with each other in real time, reducing the margin for omissions on the part of the staff. The hotel is estimated to have saved over €100,000 in the overall installation and hardware purchase budget.
